Community Service Worksites

Capital Area Teen Court works with 12 different sites around the county:


Impartial (Cary): Measure, describe, photograph, and organize artwork. Enter art details into a database. Involved in some event and program marketing.

Must be 13 years or older. There are no charge restrictions.

Miracle League (Cary): Help with baseball-related activities (catching/sorting) and can work one-on-one with players according to their needs.

Must be 12 years or older. Charges on a case-by-case basis.

The Carying Place (Cary): Following staff directions with any needed help at properties (cleaning, painting, organizing), light office work (answering phones, shredding), or organizing and (un)loading storage units.

Must be 16 years or older. Charges on a case-by-case basis.

Thrift 2 Gift (Cary): Fold, sort, and organize merchandise (clothes, dishes, electronics, shoes, sports equipment). Boxing up items, taking out trash, and floor cleaning.

No age restrictions. No violent charges.

Town of Cary (Cary): Roadside litter sweep around the town of Cary. Gloves, safety vests, trash bags, and trash grabbers are provided.

14 years or older. No violent charges.

Animal Protection Society (Durham): Clean, sort, and organize spaces throughout the shelter. Play with animals and make enrichment packs. Some front desk and administrative work.

Office- any age; Cats- 15 or older; Dogs- 16 or older. No charge restrictions.

SEEDS (Durham): Volunteers spend time helping staff tend to the garden (weeding, planting, watering, mulching), clean and organize inside, and sort materials.

13 years or older. No charge restrictions.

A Place at the Table (Raleigh): Clean dishes, tables, and floors. Deliver food and drinks to tables, prep food, and help with to-go orders.

15 years or older. No charge restrictions.

First Tee (Raleigh): Assist coaches and help younger youth golf. Clean and organize equipment, refill drink and snack bar, and help with simple groundskeeping.

12 years or older. No charge restrictions.

Safe Haven for Cats (Raleigh): Clean cages, sweep/mop floors, play with cats, organize donations, and clean laundry, dishes, and litterboxes.

13 years or older. No charge restrictions.

Habitat for Humanity: Restore (Wake Forest & Raleigh locations): Sorting, organizing, and maintaining thrift store. Unloading donation bins, assisting staff and customers, and sorting inventory.

16 years or older (Wake Forest location) / 17 years or older (Raleigh location). No violent charges.
